Dublin, Leinster -travel information and accommodation

If you can’t enjoy yourself in Dublin you have to ask yourself where can you? The friendly people, the varied sights and numerous bars, make Dublin a great place to visit. Temple Bar for those unfamiliar with Dublin, is home of the greatest concentration of pubs and bars, packed full of both locals and visitors alike, all enjoying the famous Irish craic. Guinness flows freely in all the pubs but some are more authentic in their atmosphere than others, so visiting different places is obligatory to really get a feel for the place. In addition, many of the pubs also host regular live music events that add to the party like spirit that exists here throughout the year.

Originally a Viking trading post, Dublin really made a name for itself during the prosperous Georgian era, when local gentry displayed their new found wealth by building stylish new houses, that account for much of the city’s beauty today. Its compact size makes it a pleasure to navigate on foot, with the land divided roughly in half east to west by the famous River Liffey. Temple Bar lies to the south of the river along with Trinity College and St Stephen’s Green, whilst the north is home to many areas of cultural interest, such as the Dublin Writers Museum and the James Joyce Centre.

However, one of the most social ways to get around is to join in one of the many tours on offer. By far the most fun way to explore the city and get your bearings is by hopping on board one of the city tour guide buses. For a single payment you can do a complete tour of Dublin, or jump on and off as you please visiting the sights that interest you on route. The city also has the appeal of an increasing number of top class restaurants serving both traditional Irish fodder and modern fusion food, as well as boasting a good range of theatre productions and plenty of nightclubs.
